Replacement of the old blue Goethe Card with the new white Goethe Card 2.0

Dear colleagues, over the course of the year, we will gradually replace the old blue Goethe Card with the new white Goethe Card 2.0. To increase security and efficiency, we will only operate the Goethe Card 2.0 from 2026. However, both card systems can continue to be used until the replacement date. The replacement process will take place in several phases throughout 2025 and will affect all employees and students at Goethe University. To make the process easier for us, we need your support. Employees and students can already exchange their cards at the Goethe Card Service. In particular, locking authorisations and wallet credits can be transferred to the new card in this way. This only takes a few minutes. From 11th March until further notice, we will be offering an additional service in the Goethe Card container (3rd window) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 4pm.
